Kyle Hamlett Artist Statement:
"When Luke asked me about collaborating on some instrumental music, I was in the midst of trying to wrangle a circular DADGAD riff into shape. While I'm usually fairly quick to find a vocal melody or a cryptic lyric to top a composition, this one seemed to want to remain wordless. I knew Luke could work some strange magic with the harp-like overtones that are so prevalent to the DADGAD tuning, so I suggested we try this piece. The song's title alludes to my having recently been turned on to the amazing work of Ithell Colquhoun, a British surrealist and occultist with Celtic proclivities... and the DADGAD tuning being often referred to as 'the Celtic tuning' (made most known by British guitarist Davy Graham), it seemed like a fun idea and the perfect opportunity to invoke the hand of Ithell."

"Kyle Hamlett has been a stalwart of Nashville’s experimental/outsider music scene for 25 years now. in addition to being a phenomenal guitarist and lyricist, and a tireless supporter of local and touring musicians, he is also a dear and loyal friend. personal affections aside, the music I have made with Kyle under the moniker ‘Kyle Hamlett Duo’ over the past handful of years has been some of the most fulfilling and exciting work I have ever been a part of. To be frank, it is long past time for Kyle’s turn to shine in bigger and brighter spotlights beyond Nashville’s humble stages and DIY venues. kyle’s modest personality is often shy of praise and quick to share credit, character traits that do not lend themselves to gobs of attention in a social media landscape that rewards those who are eager to live out loud. When Kyle played me a demo recording of this tune, I was overjoyed and excited to lend a part on pedal steel, and it confirmed my instincts that one of my oldest collaborators would be a perfect artist to partner with as a ‘new face.’"
